LOVE LOVE LOVE ETSY

How cute are these backpacks for preschoolers?? I was just surfing etsy.com, which I do often, and came across these super cute bags. If Richter didn't already have a backpack he would be getting one of these for sure.
You can find them at this etsy shop if you are interested. My main reason for shopping was to find waterproof name labels for the things we will be taking to Richter's preschool class. I think I have settled on these.

Cute cute cute!! I can not believe Richter starts preschool next Tuesday. We went to meet his teachers this morning. We walked in the room and he started playing with the other kids and all of the toys without looking back. "See ya Mom, I have things to do!" Sniff Sniff

3 YEARS STRONG

You may or may not know this but I wish on the first star I see each night and also every eyelash that I find (of my own of course) unattached. There was a time that I wished for the same thing every time and that was to become your wife. Three years ago my wish came true! You have been making my wishes come true ever since! I love you very much and I have had the best three years of my life. I look forward to many more with my best friend. Happy Anniversary - I love you DH!

WATERMELON FESTIVAL AND OCD

We hopped in the van and drove to Richmond Sunday for the Watermelon Festival. They block off a mile of Cary Street and have vendors, the shops are open, bands, a kidzone and LOTS OF WATERMELON! We had fun but it. was. hot! Check out this cool guy in his wagon!

Watermelon...yummy!

Here he is watching some boys play buckets as drums.

On the two hour trip there, Richter watched his first movie. We put Happy Feet in and he loved it. He was laughing out loud!! That will make our beach trip nice next month. Watching movies instead of Dora and Thomas over and over and over...
I do believe I might be responsible for my son having a tiny bit of OCD. I tend have a little myself. Richter is very much into lining things up these days. The first two times it happened I didn't think to take pictures. First, I found my fingernail polishes lined up on the shelf of the cabinet in the bathroom. Then, DH found him in our room lining my shoes up across the foot of the bed. If you notice...he puts the shoes in pairs.

He has certain trucks that are the same kind (like Little Tikes or Tonkas) and he groups them together also. I was watching him the other night and he had 3 of his Little Tikes trucks lined up with other cars and trucks. He pulled a 4th one out of the toy basket and there was no room to put it by the others. I was thinking that would drive me crazy and I would have to move the other cars to make room. Richter did exactly that. (see why I say I think I passed it along??)
In this one the balls are all together.
I know I have said this a million times but it is so amazing to watch his little mind at work. This morning he told me he wanted to wear his helicopter shirt and pulled it out of the drawer. Really...19 months old??

KICK KICK KICK

Richter has become quite the little swimmer. We went to swim lessons in June but he was still content playing around the pool instead of in the pool. A couple of weeks ago we went to a friends pool that starts at 2.5 ft. deep and goes to 5 ft. Richter could walk in the shallow end and that was pretty exciting to him. When he got to the 3 ft. section his little arm floaties just lifted him up and he started kicking around. Well that was all it took. We went to Nana's pool the next day and he got to the bottom step and pushed off like it was something he has always done. Now, he stands on the steps and belly flops into the water. He can turn himself around and swim back to the steps (saying "kick, kick, kick" the whole time) and do it all over again. He also goes backwards. It is so much fun to watch. He likes "goggues" as much as he likes "pee pa pas".

D tried to get him to jump off of the diving board to him last night but he's not quite there yet. I think it will happen by the end of the summer.
