HILTON HEAD...HERE WE COME!!

How can I argue with that? If the little guy needs a vacation I guess I better take him. You know, life is rough when you're 4 months old. (ha) We are heading to Hilton Head mid May for Richter's first beach trip. (if we are in the house by then) We can't wait!

A WEEK IN THE LIFE OF THE HARRIS'

Last Friday we went to see Dr. Mandeville for Richter's 4 month check up. He weighed in at 13 lbs. and 9 ozs. and is a whole 2 FEET TALL! (I love saying that) We talked about adding solid foods into his diet and weening him off of Zantac which he takes for reflux. Then the dreaded shots came. Richter cried a little but Mommy...I LOST IT! I have never heard my baby boy scream out in that kind of pain and I couldn't handle it. What am I going to do if anything big happens to him?? Ugh
Here he is as happy as can be waiting for the nurse to come in. (totally clueless)

Of course we don't have pictures of the moment right after the shots. As I said, it was not pretty.
Look at my little man's poor boo boos.

After we got past that, we started eating vegetables. We tried Gerber butternut squash first. Richter seemed to like it, but was more interested in his bib.

I got a "Cooking for Baby" cookbook from Jillian for my birthday and decided to put it to use. The first recipe I tried was zucchini puree. Richter seems to love it. The whole vegetable thing is obviously still new to him with the tastes and textures but he is getting the hang of it.

And last but not least, we did a little shopping today and on the way home my little exhausted love bug fell asleep. I am in love with his feet! I couldn't resist taking a picture when I found them crossed while he was snoozing. Sooo cute.

DREAM KITCHEN

Don't get me wrong, I love the kitchen in my new house and I can't wait to fill every cabinet and use every inch of counter space but...a girl can dream right?? I think the black and white is absolutely gorgeous. It looks so clean and sophisticated. Like a real grown up kitchen.

HOME SWEET HOME (soon to be)

In less than two weeks we will be calling this cute little brick ranch home. Although very exciting, the feeling is also bittersweet. We will miss our little guesthouse. We have been here for three years and Mom and Dad Harris have been very generous. But...it is time.
After a lot of searching, we feel we have found the PERFECT home for our party of 3. Once we are in and do a little painting we will share more photos.
Oh, and as of today, Richter is riding in the stroller like a big guy. We no longer have to use the car seat attachment. Again, I'm not real sure about this growing up thing. (I'll post pictures soon, it's pretty cute)

4 MONTHS OLD!

Can you believe it??

I can't believe how fast the time has gone by. There has been a lot going on at the Harris house this month. Let's catch up...

  • Richter is a roller. He started rolling from his belly to his back on March 26. He has also mastered pushing up while lying on his belly.
  • Bedtime is between 9 and 9:30 and we sleep for 10 hours. YAY!!
  • Richter loves to talk and is constantly surprising himself with new discovered sounds. I could listen to his coos all day.
  • Smiles have turned into laughing. It is still sporadic but so much fun to experience.
  • Teeth have to be around the corner because our little guy has become a drool monster. I dread it!
  • Richter is picking up his own toys and every now and then (coincidentally) putting his pacifier back in his mouth. It's funny to watch him surprise himself when it happens.
  • We go on walks almost every day and he LOVES it. As I have said in a previous post, our BOB stroller is fantastic. (thanks Meemaw)
  • Richter has been sleeping overnight in his nursery since we came home from the hospital. We have worked very hard this month on taking naps in his crib also and not always in his swing. The problem is the length of the naps in the crib as opposed to the swing. Still a work in progress.
  • Lying down really isn't an option anymore. Little man wants to be sitting up ALL OF THE TIME. He doesn't realize that he is only 4 months old.

DH and I really don't know what we did before we were blessed with Richter. I'm not sure I have ever been this smitten. We count our blessings every day and thank God for our little miracle.

DINNER WITH COUSIN KATE

DH went and watched the Masters with Ed Thursday so Richter and I went and had dinner with Cousins Whitney and Kate. We had a very yummy dinner and enjoyed our time together. The kids also enjoyed their time together. Kate brought Richter plenty of her toys to play with. She is such a sweet girl to share.
She was also so good and gentle with him. Cuddling was a must.
I knew it wouldn't be long before she would go in for a kiss. I am so happy that they will grow up together and be close.
I also got Richter's exersaucer out of storage and put it together this week. Needless to say he is in heaven! See for yourself...

Tomorrow is little man's 4 month birthday. I'm not sure I'm liking this...time is flying by too fast!

TO SWADDLE OR NOT TO SWADDLE

I have read several "debates" about how long you should swaddle your baby. Richter LOVES to be swaddled. It is still a huge comfort zone for him. Why should I mess with that when he is soooo content?? (notice Froggie) Unfortunately, he is outgrowing his swaddling blankets so I just got him the aden + anais sleepsack. I think it will be perfect for summer.

Again, I am the cutest baby ever. My mommy and daddy can't get enough of me!

ETSY LOVE

I love the etsy website. I have ordered several items from various sellers. We ended up ordering this "Easter" outfit for Richter. The seller is BudsnBranches. Unfortunately it is too big right now. I thought maybe we could roll the legs but that was a no go. Look at how cute... It will look so cute on Richter when he grows into it. The quality is amazing and her prices are great. I will definitely be a return customer.

OMG I AM TOO CUTE

I couldn't resist sharing these pictures. This is Richter's first time in the exersaucer at Nana and Papa's house. DH and I are going to have to get his out of storage.
OMG I love that little face! ooxx

HAPPY EASTER

Our little Harris family spent our first Easter together not doing much of anything. We just enjoyed each other's company until it was time for dinner.
(I do know horizontal stripes are not flattering, especially when there is still a lot of baby weight that needs to go. What was I thinking?)

The Easter Bunny showed up on Gladwood and brought us all goodies. Something seems to be a little off...how did Richter end up with the biggest and nicest basket?? Anyway, he loves all of his gifts, especially the rattles. DH and I enjoyed our gifts also.
We had dinner at DH's parents house with both sides of the family. Afterwards, the kids had an Easter egg hunt in the yard. Richter got two eggs. It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed spending the holiday with all of our family.
