SITTING PRETTY

Somebody decided to start sitting on his own! We've been working on it for a couple of weeks now. He is still a little wobbly but gets better and stronger every day! Wednesday morning Richter woke up with a huge red spot under his left eye. I thought he just slept on it funny and that it would go away. I took this picture sometime in the afternoon and as you can see it was still there. We started to get worried so I called his doctor. When I called it had faded a little so we made an appointment for later that afternoon. She said if it continued to fade to cancel it but come in if not. (love his big toe on his right foot sticking straight up and the others curled)
About an hour before his appointment the spot was almost completely gone so we ended up cancelling. By Thursday morning it was gone and we were back to normal. I'm still not sure what it was, maybe a bite of some kind. I sure didn't like it though.
Last week felt like the first "normal" week in our new house. We had our first meal the other night. I made shrimp fried rice. The recipe came from one of my favorite blogs Annie's Eats. It is so yummy and so easy to make that it has become one of our go to dinners.

DH cheffed up quesadillas Wednesday night and they were so tasty! He has mastered them. I should have gotten a picture of them also. Happy Memorial Day weekend everyone.

OUR MINI HHI VACAY

After a rough start last Wednesday, we finally made our way down to HHI. Richter was an awesome little traveler. We really didn't hear a peep out of him. I'm sure it was the fact that he was so excited to see this amazing place Mommy kept telling him about. He was just as anxious as we were. The first evening we were there I put him in the baby Bjorn and walked to the beach with Nana. Dumb me forgot the camera but he seemed to enjoy looking at the ocean. I enjoyed being on the beach with my baby for the first time.
Papa took Richter on a morning and afternoon walk everyday. After their morning walk we went and had breakfast at our favorite restaurant. (our favorite dinner spot is the Sea Shack)

We had a good time playing on the beach but it didn't take long for Richter to get sleepy! All we kept hearing was that the sea air does it every time.

Richter found his toes after a nap one afternoon! I love when babies play with their feet and toes.
Bedtime at home consists of eating, putting jammies on, reading a book and going to bed. (unless it's bath night and we squeeze a bath in there after eating) Bedtime on vacation is much more fun. We didn't worry about staying on schedule so we had a little time to play after putting our jammies on.
We are definitely excited to go back in September for a nice long vacation with DH.

5 MONTHS OLD

I can't believe another month has gone by already. The last few weeks have been a blur since we have been so busy with the house. We have been moving little things all week and hope to move the big things today and tomorrow. Thank goodness it is a beautiful weekend.
My little munchkin turned 5 months old yesterday. Boy it sure is bittersweet!!! I am anxious about all the new things he has learned and will continue to learn, but I want my little baby to stay just that...a little baby.
He is the happiest guy.
How many times have I said Richter should have a tooth any day now?? Well, still no teeth. He is still chewing on everything he can get his hands on (and if nothing is around he will just chew on his fist or thumb)
Richter has started belly laughing and his latest sound is gurgling! He definitely got my gift of gab. He talks all day long.
He started rolling from his back to his belly last weekend. It still isn't consistent but he has done it several times. We got up this morning and found him sleeping on his belly for the first time.
We started giving him fruits and vegetables. So far we haven't had any problems with allergies. YAY!
Richter has finally graduated to 3-6 month clothes and size 2 diapers.
Life just keeps getting better!

SLACKER

You know I had to start with a picture of my little guy. I love how he has his arm up on the arm of the chair. chillin! I have been a major slacker lately with my posting. I have had good reason though trying to get everything done to move in the house. DH and I did go on our road trip yesterday and got our bed. (the nightstands were out of stock darn it!) He also treated me to dinner at On The Border for Mother's Day. YUMMY! His mom and I went and put the bed together today while he was at work to surprise him. I LOVE IT! (thank you for your help)
We have a lot of work ahead of us this week. We want to be in the house before I leave for Hilton Head next Tuesday night.
Speaking of Hilton Head. I have been thinking about my list of things to pack. (mainly for Richter, I think I have the hang of what to pack for myself after 36 years) We have limited space in the car so unfortunately I can't pack things like his swing and exersaucer. Other than the obvious clothes, food, formula, stroller, etc. I thought I would pack his jump & go , favorite teething toys and soothing music to listen to at night. (which we play every night) He has these adorable swim trunks and of course this is a must have. We have this bath set at home but I think we will be ok if I just bring the bath support for bath time. Can anyone think of anything else I might need for our first beach trip?

NEW BED

I am so excited! DH and I are taking a trip to Charlotte Sunday to get our new king size bed. Within the next few months we will add the wardrobe, nightstands, and chest of drawers (of course in brown/black also) to the collection to finally have an adult bedroom. We are finally getting everything we have hoped and prayed for! Happiest girl ever!
I just want to leave you with the brightest smile EVER! XOOX

HOMEOWNERS!!!

DH and I each have a shiny new key on our key rings! We are so excited. Now the fun begins. Mission number one was choosing paint colors for Richter's room, the hallway and living room, our bedroom and the kitchen. check
I have painted Richter's room (water srout) and it is a little (well maybe a lot) BRIGHT!! We are sure that once his furniture is in, it will look great! My mission today is to paint our bedroom. My first choice was a dark tan. Then I decided I need a change. Our bedroom is chocolate brown right now and another shade of brown might give me the blahs. I got a sample of a gray/blue (river rock) and fell in love with it. It is going to look so good.
By the end of the week I hope to have the living room and hallway painted a khaki color (sandstone cove) and then the moving can begin. Once we are in I can work on the kitchen (embellished blue), bathrooms and guest bedroom after Richter is in bed at night.
I will post before and after pictures soon.
